We like to explore what's left of the old U.S. Route 66, the Mother Road. Finding the old and fascinating landmarks that were part of the history of Route 66 is almost like a treasure hunt. And much of this site is the results of our searches. It's not a roadmap, although it's organized east to west from Chicago to L.A., but mainly pictures of old landmarks and a few new features of the Mother Road. We started exploring in 2005, small stretches at a time, and are still 'on the road' as time permits.
I'm still reorganizing some from our personal web site along with sights we've seen on our April road trip. So far Illinois, Missouri, Kansas and eastern Oklahoma and Oklahoma City are complete. Western Oklahoma, Texas, eastern New Mexico and the city of Albuquerque are next. That should be online sometime this summer. Meanwhile, enjoy. Like some highways we travel, some of this website will always be "under construction".
